The Farm

Mixed media, oil on canvas, 100 cm x 100 cm (39 in x 39 in), 2025

Drawing inspiration from a few of Tomb’s titles: Haifa Market, Farmyard and A Peasant, Abunuwar’s work features six women adorned in traditional embroidery and cultural symbols that include the iconic kuffiyeh and artisanal fabrics. The women are returning from the fields, carrying fruits symbolic of the nourishment and abundance that Palestinian land provides. The vibrant strokes of paint capture the movement and energy of their journey, while the Arabic lettering captures the essence of the language and culture. With this artwork, Abunuwar pays tribute to sisterhood and the land in celebration of the collective Palestinian identity.
