Tree of Patience

Archival inkjet print, 2024

Alkrenawi responds to the themes of The Lost Paintings in a quiet, visual way, with two images that feature nature as a powerful symbol of endurance and reflect the human ability to remain rooted, withstand challenges and ultimately flourish. The first image features a Bedouin woman standing in front of a cactus tree (saber in Arabic, which is also the word for patience ), while the second focuses solely on the cactus itself. The title Tree of Patience is closely tied to the project’s core themes of resilience and endurance, with the cactus symbolizing strength and the ability to persist through harsh conditions and the woman embodying hope, renewal, and the deep relationship between humans and the natural world around them.

Ola Alkrenawi graduated from Sapir College and lives and works in the city of Rahat. Through her photography and video work, Alkrenawi documents the details of daily life in her city, highlighting the traditions and customs of the Bedouin community, with a special focus on the role and experiences of women. Alkrenawi is particularly interested in capturing the relationship between people and nature. She has participated in several local group exhibitions.
