Juhaina Habibi Kandalaft was born in Jerusalem and later as a child moved with her family from Haifa to Nazareth, where she grew up and established herself. Though painting began as a hobby, it offered her a way to express her emotions and hopes. After 14 years of marriage and raising four children in Nazareth, she pursued her artistic aspirations formally, enrolling at Oranim College for Arts. Kandalaft’s work is deeply influenced by her strong connection to her homeland, incorporating oil colors alongside mixed techniques and clay sculpture. Her work vividly expresses themes of identity, land, and heritage by way of the forms and colors of her surroundings, creating a unique language that merges symbols of women and nature with the arabesque in an abstract expressionist manner.
